SUMMARY:Annual Shell Shareholders Meeting Action
DESCRIPTION:Shell will hold its annual shareholders’ meeting (AGM) on May 19\, 2020. Due to the corona crisis\, it will not take place in the Circus Theater this time\, but at Shell headquarters in The Hague\, with only two shareholders present: https://www.shell.com/investors/retail-shareholder-information/annual-general-meeting.html. Our prophecy at the 2019 shareholders’ meeting that it would be the last Shell AGM has almost come true! And Shell is actually falling….. \n  \nDue to the measures currently in place to curb the Covid-19 pandemic\, the mass action that we had planned on May 19 cannot take place. But Shell won’t stop unless we stop them. We will therefore not let the shareholders‘ meeting go by unnoticed. And everybody who feels committed to the fall of Shell can join us! Here’s how: \n  \n1\,5 meter protest in The Hague \n  \nWe will be visible and audible in The Hague when the Shell AGM is taking place. We will create a platform for our story: Shell is a criminal company that should be dismantled. This is the only way to ensure infrastructure is broken down\, oil wells are closed\, communities are compensated\, ecosystems repaired\,and workers can transition to greener jobs. The best time to start a future beyond Shell is right now. \n  \nWe want to make sure that everybody participating in this protest is safe. Therefore we call on people who are able/willing to be present in The Hague to let us know your intent to join this action. That way we can ensure that it does not get too crowded and we can inform you of any precautions that we are taking. Please take a moment to fill out this short and secure form if you are interested in joining us. \n  \nWe encourage people who live far from The Hague to consider planning their own action closer to home. \n  \nPlan your own action! \n  \nOn May 19th we call on all allies to plan their own Shell Must Fall action close to home! DESCRIPTION:For those who are unable to be in The Hague on the 19th\, including those on the frontlines\, to accompany the protest that will take place at Shell’s doorstep\, we will be holding an online protest\, on Manif.app \n\nLike a real-life demo\, we’ll have a meeting point (Shell’s HQ)\, then we will be making a tour of some of the exploitation and ecological destruction being caused by Shell. \nSo\, how do you do it? Simple: \n1) At 10:00 CEST on the 19th\, in a browser (desktop or mobile) follow this link to join us at Shell HQ on manif.app\nhttps://manif.app/…\n3) Write your “Slogan” on the bar above the map.\n4) Click on “Manifest!”\n5) Your little protestor will then show up (in red) on the map. You can drag and drop it wherever you like.\n6) Every 15 minutes\, we will move to a new location\, which will be announced on our social media channels. \nPrivacy and security disclaimer: Manif.app does not collect any personal data. It uses one single cookie so you can play with your little protestor. After 24 hours inactive\, all the information (and your protestor) disappears. \nPolitical disclaimer: Remember. No single action – online or offline – will solve a problem just like that (this is even more valid on structural problems like the climate crisis). To achieve impact\, we need to organize and we need to diversify our tactics based on current social needs. A demonstration is\, among other things\, a show of force and public will in favour of social change.
