SUMMARY:Online Protest Shell Must Fall
DESCRIPTION:For those who are unable to be in The Hague on the 19th\, including those on the frontlines\, to accompany the protest that will take place at Shell’s doorstep\, we will be holding an online protest\, on Manif.app \n\nLike a real-life demo\, we’ll have a meeting point (Shell’s HQ)\, then we will be making a tour of some of the exploitation and ecological destruction being caused by Shell. \nSo\, how do you do it? Simple: \n1) At 10:00 CEST on the 19th\, in a browser (desktop or mobile) follow this link to join us at Shell HQ on manif.app\nhttps://manif.app/…\n3) Write your “Slogan” on the bar above the map.\n4) Click on “Manifest!”\n5) Your little protestor will then show up (in red) on the map. You can drag and drop it wherever you like.\n6) Every 15 minutes\, we will move to a new location\, which will be announced on our social media channels. \nPrivacy and security disclaimer: Manif.app does not collect any personal data. It uses one single cookie so you can play with your little protestor. After 24 hours inactive\, all the information (and your protestor) disappears. \nPolitical disclaimer: Remember. No single action – online or offline – will solve a problem just like that (this is even more valid on structural problems like the climate crisis). To achieve impact\, we need to organize and we need to diversify our tactics based on current social needs. A demonstration is\, among other things\, a show of force and public will in favour of social change.

SUMMARY:Annual Shell Shareholders Meeting Action
DESCRIPTION:Shell will hold its annual shareholders’ meeting (AGM) on May 19\, 2020. Due to the corona crisis\, it will not take place in the Circus Theater this time\, but at Shell headquarters in The Hague\, with only two shareholders present: https://www.shell.com/investors/retail-shareholder-information/annual-general-meeting.html. Our prophecy at the 2019 shareholders’ meeting that it would be the last Shell AGM has almost come true! And Shell is actually falling….. \n  \nDue to the measures currently in place to curb the Covid-19 pandemic\, the mass action that we had planned on May 19 cannot take place. But Shell won’t stop unless we stop them. We will therefore not let the shareholders‘ meeting go by unnoticed. And everybody who feels committed to the fall of Shell can join us! Here’s how: \n  \n1\,5 meter protest in The Hague \n  \nWe will be visible and audible in The Hague when the Shell AGM is taking place. We will create a platform for our story: Shell is a criminal company that should be dismantled. This is the only way to ensure infrastructure is broken down\, oil wells are closed\, communities are compensated\, ecosystems repaired\,and workers can transition to greener jobs. The best time to start a future beyond Shell is right now. \n  \nWe want to make sure that everybody participating in this protest is safe. Therefore we call on people who are able/willing to be present in The Hague to let us know your intent to join this action. That way we can ensure that it does not get too crowded and we can inform you of any precautions that we are taking. Please take a moment to fill out this short and secure form if you are interested in joining us. \n  \nWe encourage people who live far from The Hague to consider planning their own action closer to home. \n  \nPlan your own action! \n  \nOn May 19th we call on all allies to plan their own Shell Must Fall action close to home! An action can be something simple or it can be something more disruptive. No matter your experience or ability\, there are options that can work for anybody. We just ask people to check and respect our action agreement.  \n  \nAction ideas: \n\nchalking protest\nbanner drop\nsmall/bigger 1\,5 meter protest at Shell gasstation or other infrastructure\nbrandalism\ndirect action\n\n  \nHere you can read more about planning your own action and the support we can offer. \n\n—————————————————————————————–\nWe are a large movement committed to dismantling Shell with all the political\, legal and economic resources required. Stop Shell for climate justice! \nWe want a fair transition for the employees; reparations to affected communities and decentralized and social energy democracy for all. \nIt’s time to make Shell history. \nLet’s go. \n#ShellMustFall \n*This action is supported by Het Actiefonds*

SUMMARY:XR Groningen and Code Rood Groningen take action against Shell!
DESCRIPTION:Are you also disgusted by the dirty practices of the fossil fuel\nindustry and their heavy contributions to the climate and ecological\ncrisis we are facing? Then join us for an legal action without\npossibility of arrest\, against Shell on February 3\, 2020 at the Zernike\nCampus. \n_Extinction Rebellion Groningen organizes this action in cooperation\nwith Code Rood\n(https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Environmental-Conservation-Organization/coderoodgroningen/posts/)\nas the closing of the “Shell Must Fall” action week. This action\nspecifically targets the influence Shell has on the University and the\nHanze Hogeschool Groningen. Shell uses its power to influence higher\neducation and to present itself in a positive way to us students\, for\nexample\, by advertising jobs and by sponsoring many student\norganisations. We are demanding that the educational institutions and\nShell make their allies more transparent (the funding Shell pays to\nhigher education and research projects) and that Shell makes its\nintentions public (recruiting highly educated students directly from\nuniversity to maintain its power in the fossil fuel industry). It’s\ntime to tell the truth!_ \n_We will have a briefing at beforehand at 11:30 in front of the “AH to\ngo” on Zernike (bus stop: Nijenborgh). Everyone can participate in this\naction – regardless their prior experiences or whether they are a\nstudent or not. The whole action will take about two hours and it is\npossible to leave earlier if necessary._ \n_Looking forward to seeing you there!_ \n_Extinction Rebellion_\n_ Code Rood-Groningen _”

SUMMARY:Shell Must Fall Everywhere: At the University of Amsterdam
DESCRIPTION:As Australia burns and Indonesia is facing the most extreme floods in years\, Shell keeps on digging for fossil fuels and making profits by its destructive practices. Research by Fossielvrij NL has shown that the University of Amsterdam also has oil on its hands since they still work together with Shell in various ways. That is why on January 30\, we will call on the University of Amsterdam to break their ties with Shell! This action is part of the SHELL MUST FALL Everywhere! * actieweek *\, in which we will be taking action against Shell throughout the country in the last week of January. \nRoeterseilandcampus on the bridge between REC A and Rec E|| 30 january || 12:30 \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScux2abKictclSDV31w284AF_9U32muRvOcuBbTtDUh5K0brQ/viewform?usp=sf_link \nRise up for Climate Justice! SUMMARY:SHELL MUST FALL Everywhere *Action Week*
DESCRIPTION:In the last week of January we are taking action against Shell all over the country. You can organize your own action or join an existing action. In the run-up to the action week\, visit one of our info evenings and invite your friends to come with you! \nFossil giant Shell is having a devastating impact everywhere: from the Rotterdam harbor to the Isla refinery in Curacao; from the gas-induced earthquakes in the Groningen countryside to The Hague\, where Shell has a powerful lobby and the revolving door is always open to politicians; from polluting\, bribing and killing in the Niger Delta to the devastating hurricane Irma that destroyed Sint Maarten; from the endless greenwashing on TV\, in the newspapers\, on social media\, on the streets and at Shell gas stations; from influencing schools and universities to influencing cultural institutions and even Staatsbosbeheer. \nAnd while Shell’s top management and shareholders are getting richer\, the employees doing the dirty work are lagging behind and the gap between rich and poor is growing. \nShell is destroying human lives and nature. Shell is capitalism and colonialism. Shell is a climate crisis. \nWith Shell Must Fall! we are building a movement that can dismantle the power and destructive activities of the largest fossil multinational in the Netherlands. We demand an end to the Shell era; a fair transition for employees in the fossil industry; recovery for affected communities and ecosystems and a socialized energy democracy for everyone! In the run-up to the May 2020 mass campaign\, in which we are blocking Shell’s shareholders’ meeting\, we are therefore organizing the SHELL MUST FALL everywhere action week in the last week of January. \nDuring ‘Shell Must Fall Everywhere’ we call on everyone to take action to expose Shell. Because people all over the country and even the whole world are standing up to stop Shell and the resistance is wide and growing. Together we will build our movement from the bottom up and make Shell’s lies and crimes visible. \nJoin us and take action against Shell! Stand up for climate justice! Shell Must Fall!

SUMMARY:Noodlanding: Mass Action Schiphol Airport
DESCRIPTION:With Shell Must Fall! we attack the big polluter Shell. Greenpeace has seen the success of mass actions like Code Rood and Extinction Rebellion and is now preparing a mass action against another big polluter: Schiphol Airport. With a Protestival on Schiphol on the 14th and 15th of December a stage will be claimed right smack in the middle of this big polluter. Join this mass action and force Schiphol to put a stop to their infinite growth and to come up with a climate plan instead. \nIf you already have some experience with mass actions with for example Code Rood or Ende Gelände then you can go to an Action meeting Protestival for activists on Monday the 18th of November. You will hear in 1 hour whether or not this is something you want to join\, and if so\, how you can join. It starts at 7 with dinner and the info talk starts at 8. \nThere are also a lot of action trainings you can follow to prepare yourself well for mass civil disobedience! Following one of these is also a great step if you want to help dismantle Shell with the blockade of the Shell shareholders meeting on 19 May 2020. \nAction trainings: \n\n9\, 10\, 16\, 17\, 23\, 24 en 30 november: Actietraining voor Protestival – Amsterdam\n12 november Action training for Protestival – Rotterdam\n12 november Action training for Protestival – Wageningen\n18 november Action training for Protestival – Groningen\n21 november Action training for Protestival – Utrecht\n28 november Action training for Protestival – Den Haag\n28 november Action training for Protestival – Nijmegen\n\n  \nIf you would like to know more\, check https://www.greenpeace.org/nl/protestival-en/ or the FB-event. \n

SUMMARY:Dag voor Internationale Klimaatactie
\nDeze landelijke actiedag is onderdeel van de wereldwijde Global Day for Climate Action.

SUMMARY:Justice for the Ogoni 9
DESCRIPTION:We call upon everyone to join us to remember the Ogoni 9 who were executed on the 10th of November 1995 and to demand accountability from Shell for its complicity in this atrocity! \nProgramme: \nWe will gather at 11.00 a.m at the Koekamp in The Hague ( https://goo.gl/maps/25SNey84davdSsoG8 ). We will give a short briefing and walk from there to the location where we will honour and remember the Ogoni 9 and the hundred-thousands of Ogoni people suffering from Shell’s oil extraction. \nDresscode: We ask everybody to dress in black; formal clothes are preferred. \nThe story of the Ogoni 9: \nKen Saro-Wiwa\, Presente!\nBarinem Kiobel\, Presente!\nSaturday Dobee\, Presente!\nNordu Eawo\, Presente!\nDaniel Gbooko\, Presente!\nPaul Levera\, Presente!\nFelix Nuate\, Presente!\nBaribor Bera\, Presente!\nJohn Kpuine\, Presente! \nShell has been waging a lethal ecological war in Ogoni land since 1958 when it first discovered oil reserves in the area. The oil exploitation has been concentrated in the coastal plains terraces to the north of the Niger delta\, which is home to the Ogoni people\, an ethnic group numbering 500\,000 people. \nMore than 900 million barrels of oil of estimated value 30 billion US dollars have been mined from the area since the discovery of the oil reserves. 96 oil wells connected five oilfields which were mostly operated by Shell and where gas has been flared twenty-four hours a day for more than thirty-five years. Between 1976 and 1991\, over two million barrels of oil polluted Ogoniland in 2\,976 separate oil spills. \nIn 1990 the Ogoni began to powerfully resist the destructive intervention of the oil industry and the Nigerian dictatorship in their home\, where despite of the stupendous oil and gas wealth of their land\, they were confronted with environmental degradation\, political marginalization\, economic strangulations particularly marked by an unemployment rate of over 70 percent\, slavery and possible extinction. What became known to as the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP)\, with Ken Saro Wiwa as its leader\, issued the Ogoni Bill of Rights (OBR) in which they demanded (a) the right to self-determination as a distinct people in the Nigerian Federation; (b) adequate representation as of right in all Nigerian national institutions; (c) the right to use a fair proportion of the economic resources of their land for their development and (d) the right to control their environment. This was followed by a massive peaceful protest in which 300\,000 Ogoni men\, women and children marched against Shell’s ecological war and the Nigerian government’s denial to the Ogoni of all rights in January 1993. \nThe protest was followed by an extremely violent crack down on the movement by the Nigerian government and Shell whereby over 1\,000 Ogoni people were murdered and 30\,000 people displaced. The conflict eventually culminated in the execution Ken Saro Wiwa along with eight other Ogoni leaders by the Nigerian government. \nMore than 24 years have passed since then but despite international protests\, no justice has been served to the Ogoni people as they continue to live in a state of crisis! While oil production has ceased\, pipelines operated by Shell still traverse the land\, creeks and waterways. Leakages – caused by corroded pipelines as well as bandits – mean that the area is still plagued by oil spills to this date. The Nigerian Government officially launched a clean-up programme in Ogoniland three years ago; however\, communities are still waiting for emergency measures to be taken and clean-up to begin. \nWhile Shell admitted that its oil operations have polluted large areas of the Niger Delta it resists charges of complicity in human rights abuses. However\, confidential memos\, faxes\, witness statements and other documents released in 2009\, clearly show the company regularly paid the military to stop the peaceful protest movement MOSOP against the pollution\, even helping to plan raids on villages suspected of opposing the company. Moreover\, Shell continues to undermine democracy and feed into corruption in the country by engaging in rigged trade deals with the government that serve business’ interests rather than the welfare of the people #OPL245. \nThis year\, 4 widows of the Ogoni 9 were finally able to bring Shell to court for its role in the murders. We stand in solidarity and support Esther Kiobel’s demands who fought for over 20 years to bring Shell to court in order to serve justice to her murdered husband Barinem Kiobel and the other Ogoni 9. We demand that Shell is brought to justice and pays reparations for the damages done\, including cleaning up the mess that has been left in the Ogoni land. But more than reparations we demand that such an atrocity will never happen again! \nThey tortured and murdered for oil\nOgoni People not Forgotten\nShell Must Fall!

SUMMARY:Dinner + mischief in Amsterdam
DESCRIPTION:The Amsterdam branch of Code Rood would like to meet you! There are plans by Nuon/Vattenfall to build a brand new and huge biomass station! We can not just stand idly by while they do this! \nOn Tuesday the 15th of October we will have dinner in De Nieuwland in Amsterdam Oost. At 1900 there will be food. Then at 2000 we will have a SHORT meeting to get to know each other\, check what people want to do (and put time and energy in)\, and maybe we can discuss a couple of action proposals. Then after this short meeting\, those who want to can subtly distribute some propaganda (put stickers\, paste posters\, …). \nA short fact sheet on biomass stations: \n\nensure horrible air quality\,\nadd to the destruction of the living environments of the original people living on the land where they cut the forests\nadd to the global deforestation\nadd to the loss of bio diversity\npump in more CO2 than coal power stations!\n\n  \nThere is a lot of local resistance to this biomass station. Such as by Comite Schone Lucht (committee clean air) and Code Rood Amsterdam.

SUMMARY:Wereldwijde klimaatstaking
SUMMARY:From the NL to Free the Soil mass action & camp
DESCRIPTION:Free the Soil is a campaign to expose the devastating practices and impacts of industrial agriculture and the major role this industry plays in the escalating climate crisis. \nFree the Soil is organizing a mass action and camp to denounce industrial agriculture and the synthetic fertilizer industry. The camp and action will most likely take place around the third weekend of September\, exact dates are still to be confirmed. \nASEED is supporting Free the Soil by organising collective transport to the camp from the Netherlands. More details such as travel dates\, costs and how to sign up will follow in the coming weeks and months. \nWe encourage you and your group to take part in this struggle! Follow us at ASEED to stay up to date on how you can help make the camp happen by helping with benefit dinners\, spreading flyers\, and of course joining us to shut down YARA and Free the Soil.

SUMMARY:Climate Justice Action in Sweden! Travel from NL
DESCRIPTION:This is a call for the largest disobedient climate justice action yet in Sweden – Folk Mot Fossilgas! \nEmail sub_marine@riseup.net for more info. \nIt’s time to stop the European fossil gas expansion. Join us for a disobedient mass action in September in Gothenburg\, Sweden! A massive fossil gas terminal is planned in Scandinavia’s biggest port\, to import gas from all over the world. It would double Sweden’s fossil fuel capacity. We will stop it before it’s even built\, before it locks us in to decades more of fossil fuels. \nClimate destruction knows no borders – let’s show solidarity & join our international allies. \nDeparture and arrival times are not set yet\, as we are in the process of organising everything\, but make sure you are available from 5-9 September (the action dates are 6-8 September\, but we’ll need an extra day before and after for travel). On this event page you can follow updates. \nAre you up for coming?\nemail sub_marine@riseup.net \nAre you up for helping to organize transport?\nalso email sub_marine@riseup.net \nLet’s go! X \n——————————————–\nMESSAGE FROM SWEDEN:\n(see website here: https://folkmotfossilgas.earth/english) \nWe are a network of activists with different backgrounds\, from different movements\, coming together to keep fossil fuels in the ground.\nWe are part of the bigger climate justice movement.\nWe are people against fossil gas.\nWe are Folk mot fossilgas. \nAnd we welcome you to join us. \nWhy?\nIn Scandinavia’s largest port (Port of Gothenburg)\, the company Swedegas is building an import terminal for fossil gas (LNG Göteborg). They want to connect the terminal to the Swedish gas grid\, which would create a lock-in for fossil fuels dependency for the coming 40 years. A terrible idea! \nThe Swedish government is expected to make a decision this fall – to allow or to stop these fossil gas imports. We can’t rely on them to make the right decision. We need to claim the power of the people. \nWhat?\nFolk mot fossilgas is a mass direct action. We will be many and we will be unstoppable.\nFolk mot fossilgas is disobedient. We will not hesitate to break the law to protect the environment and our future.\nFolk mot fossilgas is non-violent. We will not put anybody in danger or allow ourselves to be provoked by the police. The safety of all people in and around the action is of highest priority. \nWhere?\nGothenburg\, Sweden. \nWhen?\nSeptember 6-8th\, 2019. \nWho?\nWe call on anyone who wants to act for climate justice\, and who agrees with the action consensus\, to join us!\nWe encourage people to come from other countries to join as well.\n——————————————– \nFacebook event here.

SUMMARY:Busses From The Netherlands to Ende Gelände
DESCRIPTION:One bus will leave on Wednesday evening June 19th\, another bus will leave on Thursday evening June 20th. All buses will return on Monday June 24th. The buses will depart from Amsterdam\, Utrecht\, Groningen and Nijmegen. \nMark the weekend from 19 to 24 June in your calendar and become a part of the Ende Gelände mass action 2019 in the Rhineland! We will block the dirty coal infrastructure and will state clearly: our house is on fire! We need to get going towards climate justice and put an end to coal immediately! Coal phase-out is manual work! \nThis year\, we want to focus especially on the villages. Because RWE is not only destroying the Hambach Forest and most fertile farmland\, it also destroys people’s homes – over here as well as globally\, from the Pacific islands to Bangladesh and Mozambique. We declare our solidarity with the local resistance on-site and all those affected by brown coal fields. Here\, too\, we say: “Ende Gelände” and call out for joint actions to stop all forced resettlements\, all demolitions\, all clearings\, destruction of land and nature immediately! \nWe will continue to fight with all our energy to make sure that this planet is not driven to the wall by narrow-minded\, site-fixed\, reality-denying rulers. That’s why Ende Gelände is again calling for a mass action in June in the Rhenish brown coal area. Our action is an expression of determination: We will return to the pits until the last excavator stops and all villages remain! Everywhere!

SUMMARY:Shell Must Fall! - Code Rood 2020 Declaration
DESCRIPTION:Every year in May\, shareholders and the Board of Directors of Royal Dutch Shell meet in Scheveningen (The Hague\, Netherlands)\, for their “Annual General Meeting”. \nThe AGM is where the company fulfills its legal duties: approving the Annual Report and discussing the plans for the following year. It is where they openly decide to carry on their destructive business-as-usual. \nDue to the endless efforts of countless dedicated people around the world\, every year\, the opposition to Shell grows faster than their profits: \n• In what has been described as “an unmitigated defeat for big oil”\, Shell abandoned its controversial drilling operations in the Arctic in 2015 – thanks to Greenpeace International and other groups.\n• Currently Shell is facing several historic lawsuits for its horrific crimes against humanity and nature (#ogoni9 & Klimaatzaak).\n• Groninger Bodem Beweging and the people in Groningen who suffer the consequences of gas extraction are standing up and were supported by a mass blockade of NAM/Shell infrastructure organised by Code Rood last year.\n• Fossil Free Culture NL has succeeded in liberating several institutions from Shell sponsorship.\n• Fossielvrij Onderwijs Den Haag defeated Shell in its home base\, forcing the company to move its greenwashing festival “Generation Discover” out of The Hague.\n• And just last month our comrades from Extinction Rebellion NL occupied and glued themselves to the Shell headquarters in The Hague. \nIt seems to us like the time is ripe for an all-out offensive against Shell and for climate justice. \nCode Rood will mark this 2019 shareholder meeting by launching its 2020 Declaration\, to be delivered both inside and outside the AGM. We invite you to join us for a new beginning —because there is so much to look forward to. \n*** \nFLOW OF THE DAY:\nDressed up in our best outfits\, we will start the day with some revolutionary banner making. After reading the declaration\, in coordination with the team inside\, we will have a fun first action training and explore the action target of next year. Our friends will probably arise gloriously from the AGM\, so we’ll give them an applause. We’ll wrap up and announce our upcoming events and further instructions. Afterwards we can go to the beach\, if the weather is nice\, now that The Hague is still at the beach. Or we can get some drinks 😉 \n11:00 – Gather at Circustheater\n12:00 – Presentation of the declaration ‘Shell Must Fall! 2020’\n12:15 – Action training + Scouting\n14:00 – Closing Words + Announcement of next Steps \nSee you on the 21st in front of Circustheater.\nDresscode: overalls / boiler suits \nCan’t make it to Scheveningen? You can still support us by amplifying our social media storm. Details to follow.

SUMMARY:Solidariteitswake voor Hambach

SUMMARY:Vrijdag 21 december: Fluitconcert Klimaatakkoord #vervuilersvantafel!
Wij zullen in actie blijven komen\, totdat de overheid hier echt werk van maakt.\n—\n*A brief summary in English*\nWhistling concert Klimaatakkoord: get the polluters off the table!\nOn Friday afternoon the Dutch prime minister is giving a press conference in The Hague about the Klimaat en Energie Akkoord (Climate and Energy Agreement). We’ll be there to make some noise. As long as the big polluting fossil fuel companies are allowed to be part of the negotiations we do not trust the outcome. We are tired of the influence of polluters over our lives and political processes – it’s up to us to weaken that power!\nWhen: Friday 21 December\, 15:00\nWhere: Het Plein\, The Hague\nBring: your fingers to whistle on or other instruments\, and banners.
