DESCRIPTION:Shell’s headquarter is leaving the Netherlands\, at a time when its social license to operate is being questioned and eroded by a large number of people through a variety of different campaigns. It is leaving behind a rich history of more than 40 years of resistance against the company as well as a series of legal proceedings in different Dutch courts\, from Groningen to The Hague. \nWhat is the legacy that Shell is trying to leave behind in The Netherlands? Adequate compensations not given in Groningen\, still pending civil actions in Dutch Court by affected communities around the world\, a successful climate litigation against the company\, which Shell has appealed\, a pending corruption investigation on the Nigerian OPL 245 case and lack of transparency about taxes paid around the world. \nCommunities\, NGOs and citizens still want to hold Shell to account. \nAll our struggles need to connect and work together to overcome legal and political barriers. \nHow do we continue to fight the oil giant when it has moved its headquarters more out of reach? Will our movement change? How can we best continue to stand in solidarity with Groningers? What will happen to the ongoing climate cases against Shell in The Netherlands? How can we pass on our knowledge\, keep our own momentum and continue resisting this neo-colonial climate criminal? \n  \nThis panel will be an opportunity to exchange views on what our collective strategy against Shell should look like now that the company is leaving The Netherlands. How will we deal with Shell’s toxic legacy and their continued presence here? What will a transformative transition look like\, without the elephant in the room?

SUMMARY:Klimaatstrijd in Crisistijd #6: Repressief klimaat
DESCRIPTION:De afgelopen jaren zijn diverse mensen uit de klimaatbeweging benaderd om informant te worden voor inlichtingendiensten. Nadat Extinction Rebellion vorig jaar het centrum van Amsterdam ontregelde werden actievoerders massaal gearresteerd en aan de uiterste rand van Amsterdam gedropt. Deze zogeheten ‘methode-Koppejan’\, ontwikkeld in 1966\, werd twee maanden later opnieuw ingezet tegen actievoerders van Greenpeace\, tijdens het Protestival op Schiphol.\n\n\n \n\n\nKick Out Zwarte Piet actievoerders zijn meerdere keren massaal gearresteerd en woordvoerders zijn vervolgd door het O.M. Een grote hoeveelheid demonstraties van KOZP is onrechtmatig verboden of ontbonden\, zoals tijdens de intocht in Dordrecht (2011)\, Gouda (2014)\, Rotterdam (2016)\, Dokkum (2017). Zwolle (2018) en Heerhugowaard (2019). \n\n\n \n\n\nIn de wetswijziging “ambtsinstructie politie” die door de Tweede Kamer is aangenomen en op dit moment door de Eerste Kamer behandeld wordt mag de politie straks veel meer geweld gebruiken. Rubberkogels\, taser en pepperspray mogen makkelijker ingezet worden tijdens demonstraties (en tegen verdachten).\n\n\n \n\n\nKortom: mensen die zich organiseren om de status quo te veranderen\, zoals klimaatactivisten en antiracisten\, krijgen te maken met verschillende vormen van tegenstand en repressie. Zoals de Poolse revolutionair Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919) gezegd zou hebben: “Those who do not move\, do not notice their chains.” Repressie wordt door een groot deel van de activistische gemeenschap echter nog weinig besproken. \n\n\n \n\n\nDaarom organiseren we in dit panel een broodnodige reflectie en discussie. Welke ontwikkeling in de vormen van repressie (binnen en buiten de klimaatbeweging) zien wij de afgelopen jaren? Is dat wezenlijk anders dan de decennia daarvoor? Welke ontwikkelingen verwachten we de komende jaren? \n\n\n \n\n\nIs de situatie in Nederland anders dan andere landen? Welke vergelijkbare trends zien we met het buitenland? Welke verschillen? Welke lessen kunnen wij trekken om ons tegen repressie te organiseren? En wat betekent de uitbraak van COVID-19 en de maatregelen ter beheersing van het virus voor ons activisme? \n\n\n \n\n\nDeze vragen en meer zullen we bespreken met de volgende gasten:\n\n\nDionne Abdoelhafiezkhan is partner van IZI Solutions Onder meer via Controle Alt Delete bindt Dionne met IZI de strijd tegen etnisch profileren en politiegeweld.\n\n\nJelle Klaas is mensenrechtenadvocaat en directeur van Public Interest Litigation Project\, dat strategisch procederen van activisten in Nederland ondersteunt. DESCRIPTION:AANMELDEN: Schrijf je in voor de webinar via deze link. \nTerwijl zelfs een wereldwijde lockdown de CO2-uitstoot nog niet onvoldoende terugbrengt\, heeft de gevestigde orde maar een doel: consumptie terugbrengen naar niveaus van 2019. Het kabinet hamert erop dat het kiezen is tussen het financiëren van de groeiambities van KLM enerzijds en een onvoorstelbare economische crisis anderzijds\, en zelfs de voorstanders van duurzaamheid hebben het over klimaatplannen en het behoud van fossiele banen. Maar de wetenschap is duidelijk: groen vliegen bestaat niet. \nZolang Nederland zich laat vertellen dat we moeten kiezen tussen ons welzijn nu en de leefbaarheid van de aarde in de toekomst\, is het niet raar dat onze miljarden naar multinationals gaan. Misschien is deze crisis er wel één van verbeelding\, en in deze paneldiscussie ontdekken we een alternatief verhaal. DESCRIPTION:Shell will hold its annual shareholders’ meeting (AGM) on May 19\, 2020. Due to the corona crisis\, it will not take place in the Circus Theater this time\, but at Shell headquarters in The Hague\, with only two shareholders present: https://www.shell.com/investors/retail-shareholder-information/annual-general-meeting.html. Our prophecy at the 2019 shareholders’ meeting that it would be the last Shell AGM has almost come true! And Shell is actually falling….. \n  \nDue to the measures currently in place to curb the Covid-19 pandemic\, the mass action that we had planned on May 19 cannot take place. But Shell won’t stop unless we stop them. We will therefore not let the shareholders‘ meeting go by unnoticed. And everybody who feels committed to the fall of Shell can join us! DESCRIPTION:Een dag vol discussies\, workshops en kruisbestuiving\n\n🌍 In verband met de wereldwijde coronauitbraak annuleren we het fysieke samenkomen bij dit evenement\, als onderdeel van de pogingen om verdere verspreiding van dit nieuwe en gevaarlijke virus zoveel mogelijk te vertragen.\n\n\n \n\n\n👀 Ondertussen onderzoeken we de mogelijkheden voor digitale voortzetting\, door bijvoorbeeld de komende weken één discussie per week op te zetten via een platform voor webinar / conference calls. Hierover hopen we volgende week meer duidelijkheid te kunnen geven.\n\n\n \n\n\n✊ Want de klimaatcrisis stopt niet nu er een coronacrisis is losgebarsten. Daarom zullen we ook onder deze omstandigheden samen blijven bouwen aan een sterke en strijdvaardige klimaatbeweging!\n\n———————————————-\n\n\nDe klimaatbeweging is nog nooit zo groot geweest als nu. En nog nooit was in het publieke debat de klimaatcrisis zo’n polariserend issue. Maar hoe zet de klimaatbeweging massa’s op de straat en media aandacht om in politieke impact? Welke politieke eisen moeten we als beweging stellen op weg naar klimaatrechtvaardigheid en systeemverandering? Hoe komen we voorbij het neoliberale “Klimaatakkoord” van Rutte III en de “Green Deal” van de EU? Hoe bouwen we een beweging die breed en sterk genoeg is om structurele veranderingen af te dwingen? \nDeze dag is een plek om met elkaar het gesprek aan te gaan\, de balans op te maken en samen te leren van de verschillen en overeenkomsten binnen de klimaatbeweging. Zij populariseerden hiermee de staking als actiemiddel\, maar scholieren hebben niet de economische positie om een alternatieve maatschappij vorm te geven. De vakbond heeft dit wel\, maar is in de meeste landen nog niet zover om te gaan staken voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid. Waarom is de vakbond belangrijk voor de klimaatbeweging? Wat voor rol kunnen klimaatactivisten op de werkvloer spelen? Wat kunnen we leren van internationale voorbeelden van vakbondsstrijd voor het klimaat?\n \nMet: John van Mullem (campagneleider energietransitie FNV) en Janneke Prins (Internationale Socialisten\, Maastrichtse Klimaatcoalitie).  \n📌 Hoe bouwen we een inclusieve en solidaire klimaatbeweging? \nOm een sterke\, inclusieve en solidaire beweging voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid te bouwen moeten we groeien met oog voor de positie van gemarginaliseerde groepen. Dit is extra belangrijk omdat zij ook de grootste gevolgen van de klimaatcrisis ondervinden. Hoe zorgen we ervoor dat de drempel voor onderdrukte groepen om onderdeel te zijn van de beweging verlaagd wordt? Hoe pakken we onderdrukkend gedrag binnen onze beweging aan? En als wij samen willen vechten tegen de systemen die klimaatverandering en ongelijkheid veroorzaken\, op welke manier geven we dan vorm aan solidariteit met andere bewegingen die ook strijden voor een meer rechtvaardige wereld? \nMet: Fossil Free Culture NL & Rachel Walker\, vrouwenrechten campaigner bij Action Aid NL. \n📌 Hoe ziet een rechtvaardige transitie eruit? Welke eisen stellen we? \nHet antwoord van regeringen wereldwijd op de klimaatcrisis schiet tekort. Het is niet alleen onvoldoende om klimaatverandering te stoppen\, maar werkende mensen worden ook nog eens gedwongen de rekening te betalen. Het draagvlak voor klimaatbeleid wordt hierdoor ondermijnd. Als antwoord hierop stelt de klimaatbeweging in de Verenigde Staten bijvoorbeeld een Green New Deal voor. Hoe zien wij rechtvaardig klimaatbeleid voor ons? Hoe breken we uit de neoliberale mal en brengen we stappen richting systeemveranderingen in de praktijk? Wat voor eisen zijn er nodig? \nMet: Willem Wiskerke (inhoudelijk medewerker Klimaatrechtvaardigheid Milieudefensie) en Lavinia Steinfort (onderzoeker Public Alternatives\, Transnational Institute). \n📌 Van boerenprotest tegen klimaatbeleid naar boeren als bondgenoot? \nDe afgelopen maanden zagen we hoe boeren in verzet kwamen tegen de stikstofnormen vanuit de regering. In eerste instantie was er veel steun voor hun radicale acties. Decennialang werden boeren aangezet tot steeds grotere productie\, maar het Nederlandse exportgeoriënteerde landbouwbeleid is niet langer houdbaar. Wat is de achtergrond van deze protesten? Welke uiteenlopende belangen gaan er schuil achter deze protesten? Hoe zou de landbouw er wel uit moeten zien? \n📌 Skillshare over mobiliseren voor nog grotere demonstraties\n📌 Skillshare over het smeden van lokale klimaatcoalities\n📌 Open space x 2 \n📢 16:00 – 17:00 uur – slotpanel: hoe bouwen we de klimaatbeweging? \nWereldwijd gingen afgelopen september zeven miljoen mensen de straat op voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid. Just come with your ‘Je Moeder’ shirt or Fossiel Vrij or any other clearly environmental activisty wardrobe. We want to mini-flash-mob the public space with our activist fitness moments. \n3. Sunday morning- are you nuts? Only day to sleep in.\nWell we can decide as a group to move the time-slot if needs/weather should push us in this direction. To get the word out this time from 11am til noon was chosen as to not be right after a meal (lunch/dinner). Happy to hear if there are other preferences. \n4. DESCRIPTION:On Friday the 31st of January\, at the end of the Shell Must Fall Everywhere action week\, XR and Code Rood did a peaceful action at the headquarters of Shell In Den Haag. During this action everyone was arrested. Among the arrestees was Sandra. Sandra was the one who poured a biologically degradable substance which looked like oil on the stairs (for which we had a cleaning crew standing by\, but they were also arrested) and because of this she is being persecuted heavily. She was detained for more than 48 hours and no she has to go to the court on the 10th of March. \nWe are of course in solidarity with Sandra. This is why we call upon everybody to support her and be present during the court case! \n \nWrite this down in your agenda: Tuesday March 10\, 15:00\, court of Den Haag. SAVE OUR SANDRA!
